Thanks to @NitishMurthy for giving me the idea for this post. So all it is, is a test to see if you can get better results for the Nokia E7 running Symbian Belle or with an application called Camera Pro. As we all know the Nokia E7 has an EDoF lens, fixed focus if you prefer, so close up shots are not it’s forte. But let’s see how the images turned out.
Now the Camera Pro image seems a lot darker than the one taken with the in-built application, this is most likely due to the sun peeking through the clouds more at the time I took that photo. If only I could control the clouds!
Well there certainly is not much to choose between the two images of Helsinki Cathedral. So on to the next set.
Once again not much too chose between the two, colours are pretty similar.
The last two however you will see where Camera Pro has the advantage.
As you can see and probably know Camera Pro has a much greater zoom capacity, up to 11x. This photo has a digital zoom ratio of 3.12 compared to 1.93 for the in built application. So I could have zoomed in more, obviously that would mean the photo would have been of a much lower quality. However in my opinion it is a useful ability, to be used sparingly. I wish that the current Nokia devices has “extended zoom” capability as they used to have.
So is Camera Pro worth buying, well I would say yes, especially if you like taking photo’s and experimenting. I have not shown you all Camera Pro’s capabilities in this post. It can also do HDR bracketing, Time-Lapse, Burst, Video, Self Timer. So there is plenty experiment with and all for €3,00. If you decide to buy, have fun!! However if you have a Nokia N8, then in my honest opinion the in-built camera app is much better for still images and video. Having said that Camera Pro does have a multitude of other abilities, although it’s HDR capability is not as good as HDR Photo Camera and it’s Time-Lapse does not have all the options that Fastmotion Time-Lapse application does. But you do get it all in one package. Choice is down to you.
