The answer is simple, Yes you can! And it is not that complicated to do. As with all photography, the key is, location, location, location. My first two attempts at this are not perfect by a long measure. But they do show what can be done. Hopefully some of you will do much better.
Before I start, I should point out the title is slightly inaccurate as I had two Pureview devices with me. The Nokia 808 and the Lumia 920, at least for the later part. This post will cover two trips, one last November to San Francisco and the more recent one to Connecticut and Washington DC this April.
Let’s start with San Francisco. The primary reason for the visit was to spend Thanksgiving with friends and of course to do some shopping, so sightseeing was secondary. We did of course manage to see the important sights, such as the cable cars, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Golden Gate – Nokia 808 Pureview
My last image update for my device collection was back in March, since then I have passed the 150 mark. So I thought it was time for another update.
This time is just the phones. When I hit 200 I will do all my Nokia gear again as well as that has increased too.
It is getting increasing hard to take a decent photo of all the phones in one image, I have managed to but please no comments on the image quality.
The Collection

Now obviously I do not have every Nokia device, nor do I plan to, so feel free to suggest iconic Nokia phones that you think deserve a place in the collection, but please don’t say, you are missing this, or you are missing that. It is a collection and as such is an ongoing project. I am not missing anything, I just simply do not have one yet, if indeed it is worthy or being collected.

I have been repeatedly asked for the simple setting on how to get long exposures during the day, and what settings are needed on the Pureview.
Of course, as with a DSLR, settings alone are not enough to achieve this and you need additional filters. The ND filter built into the Nokia Pureview is not sufficient for a 2.7 second long exposure alone. It needs help.
We have been going to Gozo now for 10 years so doing a travel guide in photos is almost impossible for me, I just know the island too well now. Things a first-time tourist would notice I take for granted, so this is just my normal Pureview of Gozo, not through the eyes of someone seeing it for the first time. I will not really do this is any kind of chronological order – as we were there for 3 weeks, I have several photos of the same place at different times.
For those of you that have never been or even heard of Gozo, it is a small island in the Mediterranean sea and is part of the Maltese island group along with Malta (the largest of the three) and Comino (the smallest of the three). Gozo and Malta have a very long and interesting history. If you want to read more about the history of these islands, here are the wiki links Malta, Gozo and Comino.
We flew into Malta (Via Air Malta from the UK) over Birzebbuga and St George’s Bay.

As said in the title, this is not a review of the camera. That has already been done countless times, so I thought I would just detail how I use it. So apologies if this post, is for want of a better word, disjointed! Also I will update this post over time as I find new or maybe better ways of achieving different things.

Finding ourselves in Brussels and noticing that Luxembourg is only 3 hours away by train, we decided we would fit two countries into our weekend away (it all helps with the Facebook list of countries challenge). And it was only 23€ per person after all, so off we went. The train was, well a train journey. Nothing much to speak about. However Luxembourg was a surprise for me: a very nice city, old, beautiful architecture and clean. It also turned out to be their National Holiday (note to self: read about a country before you visit).
We wandered up to the city from the station – not a long walk - Luxembourg is not like London or Paris. Most places are a short, easy walk.
Now we only had a few hours in Luxembourg, so getting to see everything was impossible. Also the fact that the Grand Ducal Palace was closed to tourists did not help. We did however go inside the Bock Casemates.
